    BlackTools 2.5 Release

    By Florian, in Articles,

    More than just a TCL!
The big day has come: BLACKTOOLS 2.5 is here!
We are excited to announce that a new version of the BlackTools script is now available.
BlackTools is the most complete channel management script who can manage channels from all the IRC networks, although some modules are specifically designed only for Undernet network. Offers everything you need for you to start using your eggdrop by having a lots of commands, protections, modules that make your channel more safe and your life easier.
You will discover that this new release will make it easier and more efficient for you to manage your channels using this new 2.5 version.
Since its first launch in September 2008, thousands of eggdrop lovers have downloaded this script and use it. It’s great to see how valuable it is to you! The BlackTools 2.5 is available for all eggdrop versions greater than 1.6.x and Tcl 8.4 or higher*.
When we launched the BlackTools, it was intended to be a just small utility script for the eggdrop's users. Today, the BlackTools is so much more! Based on your feedback, we have continuously added functionality. Over the last 9 months, we worked hard to deliver as promised a much improved and developed version, with all those feature updates in one single smart channel management tcl script.
With all the new functionality that has been added, we want to make sure that you’re still able to quickly find the feature you’re looking for. With the new update, we are introducing a complete BlackTools manual** version of all script commands and functions. Similar features, such as the new and very well-implemented ban system which performs accurate and efficient searches through global banlist and every channel banlists.
For more info about updates, read release notes.
Please use our forum to report any bugs or issues you encounter. Enjoy!
You can download it from this link: BlackTools 2.5.
    Kind regards,
    TCLscripts Team

** Read all the help files and the MANUAL before asking or saying: 'this script don't work ;)'
*** If you don't like this script, either live with the fact that not everything can be made perfectly the way you want it, or don't use it.

    Eggdrop v1.8.2 Stable Release

    By zeke, in Articles,

    Eggdrop version 1.8.2 is here!
    The major changes are:
    - CBC mode option for blowfish (only relevant for Tcl scripts, thanks to Cizzle for the significant patch)
    - Starting Eggdrop with -nt gives full access on the terminal now to simplify debugging
    - Eggdrop won't quit with the error message "CAN'T WRITE TO TEMP DIR" anymore (temp dir is optional for filesys/transfer mod)
    - The Tcl command getuser can now retrieve a list of key/value pairs to get all settings for a user
    - Portuguese language file added (thanks TheMythPT)
    - Fixed an issue with ./configure --with-ssllib, which prevented users from using a non-standard OpenSSL installation location

A New home for Tcl Scripts Archive
Read the news about the changes here.
The new site is located at http://www.tclarchive.org, hosts the old tcl scripts from egghelp.org and is accepting new tcl scripts submissions.
Good news, considering that slennox @ egghelp.org hasn't been active for quite some time and tcl scripts submissions were closed.
The egghelp.org tcl archive was one of the web's premier repositories of Tcl scripts for Eggdrop, allowing you to search or browse hundreds of scripts that enhanced your bot's functionality. At last update 7 October 2014 it reached over 1743 hosted tcl scripts by 939 authors.

After two release candidates, the final version of Eggdrop version v1.8.1 is now ready.

The major changes between 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 are:
Autobotchk: Added functionality improvements, allowing special characters to be used in botnicks (and hence filenames), and made it able to deal with split up configs that source further files. who linkedbot output: Truncates long channel listings appropriately. eggdrop.conf: Update source code to match defaults given in Eggdrop configuration file. Timer drifts: If your bot really gets frozen longer than 60 minutes, it now shows times longer than 60 minutes. ./configure: Added an options summary at the end so you see which Tcl version was used, and whether it found IPv6 and SSL files OpenSSL: A new version of OpenSSL broke our OpenSSL detection (the hexstr2buf function) and we fixed that. Versioning: Moved previously hard-coded version strings to version.h and update them via misc/setpatch instead of misc/addpatch. This also fixes inconsistencies in setting the internal version integer. Bugs: A lot were cleaned up! For the full list of changes see doc/Changes1.8.
